We’ve been wanting to bring ArtJamz to the park since we started in 2010 – some of the best art ever created was inspired by nature. For $30 intrepid ArtJammers receive a 16 x 20 stretch canvas, which they get to paint and keep, an easel, unlimited acrylic paints, brushes and art materials and guidance from the ArtJamz Creative Enablers, not to mention tons of inspiration from live music, the great outdoors and the faces of busy commuters. The popular Golden Triangle Summer Concert Series will kick off its 14th season on May 17th from 5:30pm to 7:30 pm. The free performances are held every Thursday in Farragut Square Park (MAP IT!) through June 21. This season’s series will include six concerts from a variety of musical genres beginning with Lethal Peanut, a hard rock blues band.

“These concerts are a treat for those who work in Golden Triangle, visitors from across the city and the many tourists we host in the busy summer season,” said BID Executive Director Leona Agouridis. “It’s the perfect time of year to gather in the park with friends or coworkers and enjoy a different band every week for six weeks this summer. This year’s addition of ArtJamz provides even more creative energy and an additional element of entertainment to this popular event.”

If an artist is awake when the sun comes up it doesn’t mean they’ve woken up early to get the worm — it means they’ve been up all night painting probably after eating the worm! Our new night owl sessions don’t go that late, there are rules how late we can stay open in this town, but our new late night hours from 930PM to 1130PM enable ArtJammers to unleash their inner artists as late as we’ve ever gone. Even better, our Night Owl sessions are only $35 for two hours when you register online.

Includes vitaminwater zero; water, a 20 x 24 canvas you get to paint and keep; unlimited acrylic paints; art materials aka “weapons of mass creativity” (brushes, sponges, palettes, paint knives, stencils, graffiti markers, drafting tape, pencils, oil pastels, markers, and more); and guidance and support of our art-trained Creative Enablers.

As the ArtJamz concept evolves to being a pop-up plus permanent retail location, we get to add great new services, expanding our ability to let people unleash their inner artists. Our latest wrinkle is the addition of regular open studio hours, Monday to Friday 11AM to 5PM, at our ArtJamz Dupont Studio, 1742 Connecticut Ave NW, 20009.

The studio is a prefect place for artists looking for studio space, parents looking for a creative day-time activity for their kids, or company’s searching out an inspiring for day-time brainstorming or team building activities.

Corporate Groups

The 800-square foot studio offers free WIFI, a lounge for relaxing and comes equipped with coffee machine, cold drinks, microwave and, of course, all of our painting and art materials and the raw space to use them in. Catering with select vendors can be arranged. Wine and beer can also be served on premises. We have a selection of house wines available, but also provide an extensive wine list for groups looking for a more upscale outing. Our regular pricing of two-hour $65 All Inclusive or $45 Pay as You Paint Bar options are available.

Kids and Families

Looking for a fun and creative afternoon activity? Stop by ArtJamz and paint! We have all the canvas and art materials you need to spend an arty day out. It’s $25 for the first hour and $15 for each hour afterwards, and includes one canvas plus vitaminwater zero and water. Want to paint more than one canvas? No problem. Additional canvas are $15 each.

Kids and Camp Groups

Looking for an awesomely arty activity for your school or camp group? Book a session at the ArtJamz Dupont Studio. We can accommodate up to 25 kids. We supply everything from canvas, to paints, to drinks and instruction.  Group rate: $30 per children for two hours. The best part is that we clean up the mess!

Private Adult Groups

Organize a lunchtime meet up with friends! Ask about our special one-hour lunchtime paint and pizza option, or simply come in and enjoy the arty lounge, have a bite and some drinks. Pricing depends on event. Groups can choose to paint, eat and drink; or just paint; or just eat and drink!

Studio Rental

Full and part-time artists, looking for studio space to create your next work of art? Contact us. Our studio is perfect for creating your next masterpiece and we have tons of paint, brushes, palettes, tapes, stencils, markers, exacto knives, etc., for you to use. And we don’t care about the mess. The more paint on the floor, the more character it gives it. Rate is $20 for the first hour and $15 per hour afterwards.

The VIPs left their mark, literally, on a huge communal canvas using the studio’s weapons of mass creativity that include 20 different-colored acrylic paint jugs, glitter glue, countless brush types, paint knives, markers, oil crayons and more. Liquid inspiration was provided in the Artist Lounge, where, surrounded by portraits of famous creators Salvador Dali, Ai WeiWei, Frida Kahlo and Jean-Michel Basquiat, guests sipped Moet & Chandon Chandon Rose Sparkling, Heineken Light and vitaminwater zero. The whole starving artist thing? Way over rated– pizza was provided by Fuel Pizza.

The new ArtJamz Dupont Studio is the first of its kind in Washington– a hybrid lounge serving wine and beer with an open-plan gallery and art studio. Now open, the ArtJamz Dupont Studio will host a number of creative, innovative and participatory art events, including: signature participatory ArtJamz Sessions, where adults can drink wine and beer, eat, and mingle while creating their own canvas; family-friendly afternoon KidsJamz sessions; art classes at the ArtJamz Street Academy; and art exhibitions. The boutique 800-square foot studio is also available for private booking and rentals such as birthday and bachelorette parties and corporate group and team-building events. Capacity is 30 persons.

ArtJamz began as a roving pop-art participatory art party in March 2010, holding its first sessions at the Corcoran Gallery of Art. Since then, over 4,000 people have unleashed their inner artists at ArtJamz. As the area’s first and original paint party, ArtJamz will continue to hold unique pop-up sessions, including as it’s ongoing partnership with the Smithsonian American Art Museum at its monthly Take Five Live Jazz concerts in the Kogod Courtyard.

ArtJammers register online to select an upcoming ArtJamz session. The night of ArtJamz, they receive a canvas on an easel, unlimited acrylic paints, brushes and art materials, and get three hours to create an original work of art, which is theirs to take home. Wine, beer and soft drinks, hors d’œuvres, great music, and artsy ArtJamz hosts (not to mention fellow intrepid Artjammers) keep the creative juices flowing even in the most uncreative of souls. ArtJamz is not a structured class– participants have freedom to create whatever they like; however, trained ArtJamz Creative Enablers are always on hand to provide guidance, tips, instruction and encouragement on a one-to-one basis.

In each of the five sessions, ArtJamz participants will get a chance to paint from 5PM to 8PM while taking in the sounds of live jazz in the museum’s Kogod Courtyard. Take 5! is free and open to the public; however, for $40 participants can also paint. You receive a 20×24-sized canvas you get to keep, an easel, acrylic paints, brushes, art materials, the support of ArtJamz hosts and a chance to make art in one of America’s most iconic museums. Participants also receive 20% off drinks and food at the Courtyard Café during the session.

“We are beyond thrilled about renewing our collaboration with the Smithsonian American Art Museum. It’s like a bucket-list activity for someone to be able to paint in such an iconic American museum, while also listening to great live music. The new studio features a lot of great upgrades and has been built out to suit the ArtJamz experience. For example, ArtJammers will now have 18 different acrylic colors to choose from as well as a dedicated cleaning station and more art tools, brushes, markers, and misc arts and crafts knick-knacks than ever before.

The 800-square foot lounge / gallery is located in the heart of Dupont Circle and features a cozy “Artist Lounge” for eating and drinking and an open plan ArtJamz Gallery where ArtJammers can unleash their inner artists without having to worry if paint gets on the wall or floor– in fact, we encourage that.

“We feel like kids in the proverbial creative candy shop with this first studio,” said ArtJamz Chief Creative Enabler, Michael M Clements. “After 1.5 years of activating pop-up ArtJamz we are able to apply what works best for our artjammers into the perfect paint party venue in the city… and maybe the world. We can’t wait to open our doors and get this paint party started.”

Since hosting its first sessions in June 2010 at the Corcoran Gallery of Art and Design, ArtJamz has hosted almost 80 pop-up sessions and enabled close to 4,000 people to eat, drink and create. Although ArtJamz has a permanent home, it will still host pop-up sessions at cool and unique off-site locations, says Clements: “Pop-up sessions are in our blood. We will be continuing our partnership with the Smithsonian American Art Museum as well as coming up with regular pop-up sessions at cool and unusual places.”

The ArtJamz Dupont studio will also host KidsJamz sessions during weekend afternoons and out of the box art classes during the week. March will also see three two-hour KidsJamz Sessions, featuring painting and pizza for children aged 5 to 16.

One of our favorite ways to have fun with ArtJamz is to make it accessible to kidz and families– it’s why we love KidsJamz so much. Our last KidsJamz sessions that we held were so much fun. Check out the photos below. The best part (for the parents) is that we clean up the mess! The best part for the kids is, well, they get to paint and make a mess. And thanks to our new ArtJamz Dupont Studio, we will be hosting KidsJamz sessions almost every weekend. WE will release our schedule before each month.

Since launching in June 2010, ArtJamz has grown steadily and attracted a loyal and fun loving group of artjammers who have unleashed their inner artists with us. The new 800 sq foot studio will enable ArtJamz to host weekly public sessions as well as handle more private party and corporate / team building events.

“We started with a dream of enabling people to create more and tap into the artistic process– it was really a passion project,” says Chief Creative Enabler, Michael M Clements. “But as we held more sessions, more people came, and really loved the experience. So, we had more sessions. And then more. We finally got to a point where we needed a permanent space. The entire team is really excited.”

Although the space will enable ArtJamz to host more session, the participatory painting event will still host consistent pop-up events at cool locations around the metro Washington D.C. area such as the upcoming Blue Crystal Sessions in Crystal City. ArtJamz will also be returning to the Smithsonian American Art Museum in the Spring and Summer for more sessions in the stunning Kogod Courtyard.

“Being mobile and finding neat pop-up venues is part of the ArtJamz DNA. We’re not completely abandoning that – but we’ve have to a point where we really wanted a home base and studio,” says Clements.

Aside from holding private and public ArtJamz sessions, the new ArtJamz Dupont Studio will host art exhibitions, weekend afternoon KidsJamz sessions, will be available to persons needing space and materials to complete large art works, and available for private event rental.

Kick start the New Year with a dose of creativity at ArtJamz: Blue Crystal Sessions in Crystal City and the ArtJamz: Creative Resolution Session  in Shaw. This is the second time ArtJamz has partnered with the Crystal City Business Improvement District (BID) and Vornado/Charles E. Smith to hosts a series of ArtJamz sessions.  You can see some pictures from our previous sessions HERE.  “We’re excited to be artjamming back in Crystal City. We’ve added a lot of twists and surprises to make these nights even better than our sessions last year,” says ArtJamz Chief Creative Enabler Michael M. Clements. The sessions will feature live DJs as well as catering by King Street Blues all in a warm and cozy glass atrium.

“We could not be more excited to welcome ArtJamz back to Crystal City,” said Angela Fox, Crystal City BID President/CEO.  ”We know Picasso had a blue period, so we hope people will express their inner cubist here with us!”
