Founded in 2010 in Washington DC, ArtJamz® is the National Capital Region’s original source of participatory paint parties. We were the first to combine socializing, drinks and creative expression and let people unleash their inner artists. Our public art studio and lounge plus unique brand of guided-freestyle paint parties are great for social and professional events, office outings, private paint parties, kids parties, and date nights as well as for singles looking for something fun to do in Washington DC. 
HOW IT WORKS
ArtJamz is a public art studio and lounge open 7 days a week where you can paint, drink, lounge, buy art or just flip through cool art books and paint on the walls. We provide studio time, canvas, art materials and guidance. All you do is show up, paint, have a drink if you’re old enough, listen to jamming tunes and enjoy yourself. You are not confined by a specific class time or schedule. This is not a class type of environment, although we do have roving trained artists – our Creative Enablers – who are there to provide tips, guidance and encouragement. We have one full time studio in Dupont, another location in Crystal City we activate once a month, and we host regular pop-up ArtJamz at random and cool places around town.

Studio time gives you full access to our awesomely creative and fully stocked art studio. Live like an artist without the mess happening in your livingroom. Studio time includes unlimited acrylic paints, paintbrushes and tons of cool “weapons of mass creativity” like paint knives, graffiti markers, pencils, oil pastels, glitter, drafting tape, construction paper, glue, stencils, and random crafty knicknacks. You’ll get a standing easel, a smock, a paint palette and personalized guidance from our art-trained Creative Enablers.
Meanwhile, great music and a selection of wines, champagne and beers in the Artist Lounge will keep the creative juices flowing even in the most uncreative of souls. We have Honest Tea, coffee and water as well.

Canvases range in size and price. We use studio grade stretch canvas. We do not keep or store canvas at the studio. We have hair-dryers as well as wet canvas carry bags ($2.50) at the studio. Left canvases get painted over and re-sold as recycled art.

We don’t tell you what to paint – this is isn’t one of those banal and structured wine and paint class things; but our staff of creative enablers are always on hand to give personalized tips, guidance and encouragement, making our paint parties the best and most creative in town. ARTJAMZ STUDIOS AND LOCATIONS
Say hello to the ArtJamz Dupont Studio located at 1728 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington DC. This 2200 sq foot split level studio has a cozy Artist Lounge for drinks, food and socializing and the ArtJamz Gallery where you can unleash your inner artist without worrying about getting paint on the floor – in fact, we encourage it. The studio has been built out to suit the ArtJamz experience. For example, ArtJammers will now have over 30 different acrylic colors to choose from as well as a dedicated cleaning station and more art tools, different sized brushes, graffiti markers, stencils, sponges, paint knives, pencils, oil pastels, and misc arts and crafts knick-knacks than ever before.
The ArtJamz Underground Studio located at Crystal City Shops @2100, 2155 Crystal PLAZA Arcade, Arlington, VA 22202 is a 5,000 sq ft former McDonald’s in the heart of the Art Underground complex in Crystal City. Art is transforming five blocks of Crystal City’s interior retail space into a vibrant arts and cultural destination featuring monthly ArtJamz Underground pop-ups, galleries, studios, interactive exhibits and activities, performance and classroom spaces, and a host of special events.
WE POP-UP TOO!
We’re like the circus, we like to roam the metro area and find cool spaces to pop-up and get our jamz on. Since launching, we’ve held sessions at The Corcoran Gallery of Art, The Smithsonian American Art Museum Kogod Courtyard, Lamont Bishop Gallery, Long View Gallery, an empty retail spaces in Crystal City and Dupont Circle, a mansion in Georgetown, Cafe Asia, the Gibson Guitar Showroom, The Loree Grand, Montserrat House, Fathom Gallery, The Dunes, Lincoln Restaurant, Tysons Galleria, Bloomingdales, and many other unexpected and cool places.
HOW THE HECK DID THIS START?
ArtJamz was launched in June 2010 by Michael M. Clements as a production of Genki Media® LLC, a company dedicated to incubating creative enterprises in the Washington D.C. metro area. The ah-ah moment came when Clements was up late one night painting, drinking and hanging out with a group of friends instead of going out. He half jokingly said, “Wouldn’t this be great if we could do this at a bar?” The rest they say, is history …
